Dear President Biden:
We, the members of The Villages Democratic Club in San Jose, California, wish to join the ongoing chorus of admirers who applaud your tremendously difficult decision to step away from your Presidential campaign.
Your decision took exceptional courage and selflessness. You put your country and its future first. You made it possible to save Democracy as we know it. Not many men would have done the same, but then, not many men have the decency, humanity and compassion of a Joe Biden.
History will show that you were a great President despite enormously malicious opposition. Your successes are an impressive list, all of which served your country well; among them the release of the Russian-held hostages, your ability to rally our allies in support of Ukraine, your management of the toxic environment in the Middle East, your leadership in pulling us out of the COVID disaster, and your positive impact on the economy evidenced by your record of job creation and low unemployment rates.
History will also hold you up as the ultimate example of one incredibly altruistic and noble man. Thank you, Joe Biden, for your lifetime of service to this country. Thank you for putting country first. And thank you for being you.
