ONE REWARDING EXPERIENCE
By Arlene Versaw
Heads down, pens traversing postcards, 50 Democratic Club members stepped up on the
evening of July 16 and spent two hours deep into writing messages to send to voters in
California House District 41 on behalf of Dem candidate Will Rollins. These volunteers were
intent, working in silence, making their contribution to flipping a U.S. House seat to Blue.
The Democratic Club has been managing a postcard-writing campaign for a while now, focusing
on four California seats that were targeted by Commit to Democracy, an arm of Activate
America that is active nationwide. Led by Nan Holmes with the aid of Yvette Katz, Judy Rickard
and Arlene Versaw, the group has already seen 2,000 postcards completed.
Councilmember and current candidate Domingo Candelas dropped by to cheer us all on and
then joined the volunteers, writing postcards for an hour or so.
A heartfelt thank you to those who joined the effort. Another such event is scheduled for
Tuesday, August 20, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Foothill Center. We hope you will join us then.
